Apr. 4, 2023Quantum Many-Body Physics with Rydberg Atoms ArrayReporter:Prof. Hui Zhai from Tsinghua University
Abstract:In this talk, I will review rich physics discovered recently in the Rydberg atoms array. The progress includes discovering quantum many-body scar states, realizing quantum spin liquids, and observing confinement-deconfinement transition. I will show that all these phenomena can be understood by a unified theoretical framework that maps the Rydberg atom arrays to a lattice gauge theory.

Feb. 28, 2023Discussion on strongly coupled quantum heat engine
Abstract:Quantum heat engines achieve heat-to-work conversion on a microscopic scale. Different from classical heat engines, system-environment coupling in quantum heat engines can reach the degree of comparison with system energy to form a strongly coupled quantum heat engine, but how to describe the efficiency of strongly coupled quantum heat engines has always been a major challenge in the field of quantum thermodynamics. In this report, I will describe our efforts to address this challenge. First, the construction of the quantum thermodynamic theory of strongly coupled quantum heat engine, we propose the first law of quantum thermodynamics applicable to the strongly coupled interval and the universal definition of thermodynamic efficiency. Second, the efficiency of the strongly coupled quantum heat engine in the linear response interval is studied, and we find that the efficiency of the strongly coupled quantum heat engine is always inferior to the efficiency of the corresponding weakly coupled quantum heat engine.

Feb. 23, 2023Efficient manipulation of microphotons and room-temperature quantum states
Abstract:The efficient control of micro-nanophotons is the core foundation for realizing high-performance micro-nano optoelectronic devices and their integrated chips. This report will first introduce the development status and challenges of efficient micro-nanophotonic air manipulation. The second part introduces the universal local coupling quantum theory of micro-nano light radiation and absorption, revealing that the spatial position of radiants (atoms, molecules or excitons) can fundamentally change their optical radiation and absorption characteristics, which expands and enriches the traditional Purcell optical radiation theory that began in 1946. The third part describes the experimental preparation of high-efficiency on-demand controllable quantum light source, a key micro-nano optoelectronic device indispensable for quantum information technology: based on the developed position-dependent optical radiation theory, the efficient micro-nano light source structure and advanced micro-nano preparation technology are designed, and the "three high" quantum entangled photon source, the spin state on-demand controllable single photon source and the triggered high-brightness orbital angular momentum single-photon source have been successively realized in the world. Finally, the report introduces the realization and manipulation of photon-exciton room-temperature strongly coupled quantum states: the challenge of realizing room-temperature quantum states and their manipulation lies in how to overcome the huge dissipation at room temperature, the report will reveal the critical conditions and diversity of room temperature strong coupling, and introduce the experimental realization of room-temperature strongly coupled quantum states: traditional inefficient solutions to improve coupling strength and novel and efficient schemes to suppress room temperature dissipation.
